Cristina Mendez, LCSW graduated with a Bachelor's in Social Work from Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma. After moving to Texas, she furthered her experience working with the elderly and their families as the Director of Social Work at Integrated Health Services and with adults living with severe mental illness at Adapt of Texas. She pursued her education at the University of Arlington where she received a Certificate of Non-Profit Management and received training in Public Affairs and opportunities to lobby at the state level with Mental Health Association and AARP. She continued her education at Texas A&M Commerce where she received her Master's of Social Work. During that time, she worked with high risk teens and families to provide mental health services for those in need of behavorial management. She then worked for the Plano and Dallas Independent School Districts in the Special Education Departments providing advocacy, mediation and counseling for students and thier families.
Cristina is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, with a diverse professional background including, community mental health, individual therapy, groups and private practice. She uses an interactive and integrative approach to counseling. including cognitive-behavioral therapy, family-systems therapy, solution-focused therapy and mindfulness. In addition, she utilizes play therapy and expressive arts techniques for children and adolescents.
Cristina uses a strength perspective to partner with clients. She will meet you where you are and join you in your journey of healing and living an authentic balanced life.
